How to enable phone gestures

How to enable phone gestures on any phone differs from one phone to another however the operation remains the same.

Gestures were introduced way back in android 4, though they were basic they were also complicated, for example, you had to flip your phone to mute and tap to wake.

 In android 10 there are new gestures such as picking up a call, rejecting a call, taking screenshots.

Some phone manufacturers have implemented this feature earlier than others and grouped them under smart assistant while others just labelled their gestures.

How to enable phone gestures

Since the settings may differ from phone to phone you may have to locate the service first then start using it.

Music gestures

Music gestures only when the music is currently playing or with your default player being in the background.

To activate the music gestures try this;

  1. Open the app management and set your favourite player as default.
  2. Open the gesture menu and activate the music gesture function
  3. Launch your favourite music player
  4. Once the screen locks you can start using the gestures.

The music gestures you can use include;

Swipe up to stop, swipe down to play, swipe left to play previous song, swipe right to play next song.

Tapping wake

 the tapping wake gesture is for simple waking up your phone, for example, to view the time and notifications on your screen.

To activate the tapping wake gestures try this;

  1. Open the gesture menu and activate the tapping wake gesture function
  2. Once the screen locks you can start using the gestures.

The tapping gestures work by your double-tapping on your screen, while it is on the home screen it will lock and if its lock it will display the time and show notifications.

Some phones have a different setting in which you have to triple tap. Verify how yours works before trying it

Flip Mute

The flip mute gesture is meant to mute your incoming calls and in other cases reduce the volume of your music.

To activate the flip mute gestures try this;

  1. Open the gesture menu and activate the flip mute gesture function
  2. Once you receive a call simple flip your phone and the ringtone will stop playing

The flip mute gestures work by muting the ringtone temporary till the next call.

If your phone is called while still flipped you will hear it ring. If you don’t want to be bothered by calls we recommend you enable the do not disturb feature or keep repeating the flip mute gesture.

Take a screenshot with 3 fingers

The take screenshot with 3 fingers gesture is meant to practically replace the volume down and power button combination of taking screenshots.

With this gesture, you simply use any three fingers to take a screenshot.

To activate take a screenshot with 3 fingers gestures try this;

  1. Open the gesture menu and activate the take screenshot with 3 fingers gesture function
  2. Swipe three fingers downwards to take a screenshot.

The screenshot taken is saved in the pictures.
