GUIDE TO A SAFE AND SECURE ANDRIOD DEVICE



Securing your smart phone should never be a tag of war and once you have properly configured your device even recovering it becomes much easier.
In this tutorial we are cover the features that you must configure and set to ensure that your device is secure.
The menus may be different for each phone type however the features are all the same.
·        Set a screen  lock using a PIN not a pattern since patterns are easily guessable
Settings -> Lock Screen -> Pattern/PIN -> ON
·        Set device encryption on
Settings -> Security -> Device Encryption -> ON
·        Turn on the SD Card encryption device on
Settings -> Security -> SD Card Encryption -> ON
·        Turn off installation of  applications from unknown sources
Settings -> Security -> Unknown Sources -> OFF
·        Make your password invisible to the viewers
Settings -> Security -> Passwords Visible -> OFF
·        Turn on the Desktop Backup Password
Settings -> Desktop Backup Password -> ON
·        Disable the USB Debugging option
Settings -> Security -> Password -> USB Debugging -> OFF
Activate the developer option on your device and configure the following
·        Turn on the activities option
Settings -> Developer Options -> Do Not Keep Activities -> ON
·        limit the background processes to 2
Settings -> Developer Options -> Limit Background Processes -> At Most 2 Processes
·        turn on power saving mode
Settings -> My Device -> Power Saving Mode -> ON
·        turn off the voice control
Settings -> My Device -> Voice Control -> OFF
·        Turn on the automatic time and date updates
Settings -> Date and Time -> Automatic Date and Time -> OFF

Other settings that are not very important but could be very handy are;
1.     Rename your Bluetooth device connection and set the timeout to 30 minutes, set the connection to be visible to only connected devices.
2.     Rename your hotspot and set a password to something memorable but hard to crack something like 00484467
3.     Turn on accounts and sync features as this may become handy when you need to access all your data on another device.
4.     Turn on the location services this will enable you to locate your phone when you lose it

Don’t root your phone unless it’s absolutely necessary to do so.

Redphone
K-9 Mail
VLC
Firefox
Ccleaner
Titanium Backup PRO
Telegram
Facebook Messenger
Google Keep
